A good friend of mine once told me an idea he had about what one should be doing on the turn of the year: be doing what you want the focus of the coming year to be. This struck me with romance and power. Music was and remains my focus for each year. From that year forward, I adopted the idea for my own and began going to the studio each New Year's Eve to build one song from scratch. No part of the song was allowed to have been created at any other time than that specific New Year's Eve. From drum loops to lyrics to sample sources to composition to mixing...all would be created and completed within one night. Unified Feel Theory began as just Astrogirl and myself but by the next year bloomed and morphed into a yearly open invite for any with a desire to contribute to the one-night-creation.
